University of Bochum report on UCG-Germany    

As part of a project on "Religious Diversity" in Germany's largest state, Nordrhein-Westfalen, the University of Bochum will provide information on 250 Christian churches. The project will be published in May 2006. The entry for the Vereinte Kirche Gottes [UCG-Germany] reads as follows:

English (translation): Vereinte Kirche Gottes e.V., United Church of God-Germany - VKG/UCG: The VKG is one of the many (media) churches resulting from the work of H. W. Armstrong. It claims to emphasize the message of Jesus rather than just His person; it rejects the trinity doctrine and respects those commands of the thora which, according to its viewpoint, are still valid, including the Sabbath rest, celebration of Jewish feast days and certain dietary laws. UCG arose in 1995, after the Worldwide Church of God's radical break with its founder Armstrong. WCG members in Germany who rejected the change to evangelicalism joined UCG in 1995. The VKG publishes the magazine "Gute Nachrichten" and conducts worship services for its members.

German (original): Vereinte Kirche Gottes e.V., United Church of God-Germany - VKG/UCG: Die VKG ist eine der vielen, durch das Wirken von H. W. Armstrong entstandenen (Medien-)Kirchen. Sie sagt, sie hebe die Botschaft Jesu statt nur seine Person hervor; sie lehnt die Trinitätslehre ab und achtet die ihrer Ansicht nach noch gültigen Gebote der Thora wie die Sabbatruhe, die Feier jüdischer Festtage und gewisse Speisegebote. 1995, nach dem radikalen Bruch der Worldwide Church of God mit ihrem Gründer Armstrong, bildete sich auch die UCG. In Deutschland schlossen sich WCG-Anhänger, die die Wende zum Evangelikalismus ablehnten, 1995 der UCG an. Die VKG gibt die Zeitschrift "Gute Nachrichten" heraus und hält Gottesdienste für ihre Mitglieder ab.
