Judge not

In the sermon on the mount Jesus Christ warns us about being judgmental: "Judge not, that you be not judged. For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you" (Matthew 7:1-2). Jesus doesn't mean that we cannot discern whether an action is righteous or not. (more…)

Acting on our own (Part 1)

We all know how Abraham, acting on a suggestion made by his wife, tried to fulfill God's promise of a son with the maid Hagar. We find a similar example in the actions of Rebekah and Jacob, when the time came that Isaac wanted to bestow the birthright blessing on an heir. (more…)
