Two guys from Missouri

Filed under Back in the USA

Today I met a fellow Missourian, my old friend Darris McNeely. At Darris’ invitation, I helped him present a "World News and Prophecy" seminar in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Darris hails from Cape Girardeau, Missouri, and I was his Mississippi River neighbor upstream in St. Louis. We met for the first time in August 1970 when I attended church services in Cape Girardeau as a visitor and was introduced to Darris as a fellow who was also on his way to Ambassador College in Pasadena. Charlotte WNP lecture We had both been accepted for the fall semester that year. We graduated in the same class in May 1973, and Darris’s first assignment in the ministry was in Charlotte, the site of today’s WNP seminar, while I went to Düsseldorf, Germany. We have kept up with each other since our college days, with as many visits as have been possible for guys who have lived most of their adult lives on separate continents. :-)

Today’s seminar was a lot of fun with over 200 people in attendance. Charlotte church pastor David Mills and his team did an excellent job of organizing the event. That was especially helpful for keeping us on time during the lunch break after I went overtime in the morning, but I compensated for it by using 5 minutes less than the time I was alloted time in the afternoon. Darris was "on time" for both of his presentations.
