1st key: Honor God

How well do we work with one another in the church of God?

Do we work together like Jesus and His Father do? Do we follow the example of Jesus Christ who showed us three valuable keys about how to work with others in oneness as He and His Father do?

The first key Jesus gives us by His perfect example is to honor God and give Him the credit. Jesus knew who was the boss! "My Father is greater than I" (John 14:28).

Jesus honored His Father with great respect and did all things to please Him. "As My Father has taught Me, I speak these things. He that sent Me is with Me: The Father has not left Me alone; for I do always those things that please Him" (John 8:26-29). He recognized and stated that "I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father who sent me" (John 5:30).

Jesus said in another place, "The works that I do in My Fathers Name, they bear witness of Me" (John 10:25).

Jesus constantly made statements accenting his Father’s position. "As the living Father has sent me, and I live by the Father" (John 6:57). "No man can come unto Me, except it were given unto him of My Father" (verse 65). "My doctrine is not mine, but His that sent Me" (John 7:16). Jesus said: "Holy Father, keep through your own name those whom You have given Me, that they may be one, as We are" (John 17:11).

The first key to working together in oneness is for each of us to honor our heavenly Father. Do we follow Jesus’ example by constantly honoring our heavenly Father and giving him the credit?

With these thoughts I wish us all a rewarding Sabbath!
