Getting away for Christmas

40 UCG-Germany members met this evening for the first day of a four day activity in a youth hostel near Hachenburg about 60 miles west of Frankfurt.

The activity is the first of its kind since UCG-Germany was formed some 13 years ago. Evening meal on Dec. 24th Members have expressed a desire for years to have some kind of activity with overnights to get away from Christmas celebrations. Since Jesus Christ was not born anywhere near December 25th, we do not observe the Christmas holiday. (A number of Christmas traditions actually predate Jesus’ birth and had nothing to do with worshipping Him.) However, this holiday is a major family festival in Germany, so for some families and especially for singles it can be a challenging time. So we organized a four day activity starting this evening. Members from four countries are here for the activity: Belgium, Germany, Switzerland and the UK. We will have daily Bible studies, and on the Sabbath there will be about 75 people here at the youth hostel for the only church service we will be conducting in the German-language region this week. Take a look at the schedule of activities for the next four days.
