The highest price

There are people willing to pay a very high price for things when others would question whether the price is justified.

Take, for example, an "Apple-1" Computer which was the first of the Apple PC series in 1976. The original price in today's value would have been around 2090 €. But last November one of these old PCs was sold for nearly 500,000 € at an auction in Cologne.

The buyer thought that the price was worth it.

Do you realize that God thinks the same about us?

The human body is made up of various chemical elements like oxygen (65%), carbon (18%), hydrogen (10%), nitrogen (3%), calcium (1.5%), phosphorous (1%) and other elements like sulfur, potassium, sodium etc. with less than 1%. If our skin were valued at the price of cowhide, and the price of the various chemical elements in the quantity found in our body were added in, our body would be worth less than 10 EUR.

God says that a price was paid for us as Christians: "Do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's" (1 Corinthians 6:19-20).

What was that price? The highest one that could be paid: the blood of Jesus Christ, by whose name we are saved (Joel 2:32). "Therefore take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He [Christ] purchased with His own blood" (Acts 20:28).

God looks forward to the return on His investment: the resurrection to glory (1 Corinthians 15:43).

With these thoughts I wish everyone a rewarding Sabbath!
