January 2, 2011: During the year 2010 the
"Gute Nachrichten" website
had 230,714 visitors, a new annual record. The number of
visitors has increased fourfold since 2006. The tally for
December 2010 was 23,899 visitors.
January 7, 2011: The local income of the Vereinte
Kirche Gottes [UCG-Germany] increased by 1.1 percent during the
year 2010 in comparison to the previous year. A strong second
half of the year offset a slow start to the church's income in
January and February 2010.
January 11, 2011: For the year 2010 the Vereinte
Kirche Gottes ["UCG-Germany"] distributed a total of 57,790
publications in the German language, an 11.2 percent increase
over the previous year. The booklets requested most often were
"Nach dem Tode – was dann?" ["What happens after death?],
"Jesus Christus: Die wahre Geschichte" ["Jesus Christ: The true
story"] and the reprint "Das Geheimnis Ihrer Existenz" ["What
is your destiny?"].
January 16, 2011:
The January-February issue of the "Gute
Nachrichten" magazine is mailed to 7530 readers in 17
European countries. This is another new record high for
"Gute Nachrichten" circulation, representing a 1.5 percent
increase over the last issue and a 12 percent increase
over the January-February 2010 issue. The circulation goal
for 2011 is 8000 subscribers by the end of the year.
January 21, 2011:
The Vereinte Kirche Gottes ["UCG-Germany"]
prints the booklet "Glaubenssätze der Vereinten
Kirche Gottes" ["Fundamental Beliefs"]. UCOG
contributed funds to help pay the cost of printing the new
booklet, which is the 22nd booklet to be printed by the
Vereinte Kirche Gottes. Read more »
February 3, 2011: The Vereinte Kirche Gottes
[UCG-Germany] completes a test of live interactive internet
Bible studies using Skype. Two sessions on successive days
showed that the medium can be used for regular interactive
online Bible studies. 20 people using 16 connections
participated in the test.
February 13, 2011: United Christian Outreach Germany
announces a special fundraiser to provide $1000 as festival
assistance for airfare, visa and lodging expenses for Mnazakan
Poghossjan to attend this year's Feast of Tabernacles in
Schluchsee, Germany. Mr. Poghassjan is the only member of the
United Church of God in Armenia.
February 23, 2011: The Vereinte Kirche Gottes
[UCG-Germany] conducted it first regular live interactive
internet Bible study using Skype, following a successful test
phase two weeks earlier. 23 people in five countries
participated via 18 Skype connections. The subject was
decisions made by consensus in the early New Testament
church.
February 28, 2011: The Vereinte Kirche Gottes
[UCG-Germany] distributes a set of guidelines for participation
in interactive group Bible studies. The guidelines were based
on 14 years of experience in the Darmstadt local congregation
and were reviewed and approved by church elders at their
meeting in Mannheim on January 24, 2011.
March 6, 2011: The "Gute Nachrichten" website
set new records for the months of January and February. In
January a record total of 27,414 people visited the website,
and in February another new record of 27,572 visitors (985
per day) was set.
March 14, 2011:
The March-April issue of the "Gute
Nachrichten" magazine is mailed to 7530 readers in 17
European countries. Circulation for the March-April issue
remains unchanged from January's record level and is a 6.9
percent increase over the March-April 2010 issue. The
circulation goal for 2011 is 8000 subscribers by the end
of the year.
March 23, 2011: The Vereinte Kirche Gottes
[UCG-Germany] conducted its second regular live interactive
internet Bible study using Skype, following a successful test
phase in February. The subject was the apostle Peter's role in
the New Testament church.
March 30, 2011:
The Vereinte Kirche Gottes ["UCG-Germany"]
reprints the booklet "Nach dem Tode – was dann?"
["What happens after death?"], for the second time since
its original printing in 1998. This booklet is featured in
Google and Yahoo advertizing and is the most requested
booklet distributed by the Vereinte Kirche Gottes.
April 7, 2011: The "Gute Nachrichten" website
set another new record for the month of March. 29,182 unique
visitors were counted on the website in March (941 per
day).
April 13, 2011: Today's live interactive Bible Study
via Skype was a pre-Passover quiz on various historical and
symbolic aspects of the Passover service, with 18 people in 4
countries participating.
April 18, 2011: The Vereinte Kirche Gottes
[UCG-Germany] considers changing the printer for its
German-language publications. An offer from a printer near the
Dutch-German border could mean as much as a 1000 €
savings for each issue of the "Gute Nachrichten" magazine.
April 26, 2011: Statistics for the Passover and the
Feast of Unleavened Bread in the German-language region have
been finalized. 112 people met at six locations to keep the
Passover. On the first day of Unleavened Bread, 141 people
attended services in five locations: Dormagen (40), Ebnath
(18), Moosdorf in Austria (14), Schriesheim (24) and Winterthur
in Switzerland (41). The offering was 8871 €, which
was 16.8% higher than last year's offering. On the last day of
Unleavened Bread, 124 people attended services in five locations:
Dormagen (37), Hamburg (17), Munich (19), Schriesheim (29) and
Winterthur in Switzerland (22). The offering (7914 €)
was 14.9% higher than in 2010.
May 3, 2011: 2 years after introducing a dot matrix
labeling code for subscribers of the "Gute Nachrichten"
magazine in Germany the German postal service declared the
"Gute Nachrichten" subscription list to be 98.81% accurate,
qualifying it for the lowest electronic address correction
rate. The dot matrix labeling code is mandatory for the
electronic address correction service.
May 14, 2011:
The May-June issue of the "Gute Nachrichten"
magazine is mailed to 7410 readers in 17 European
countries. Circulation for the May-June issue is a 4
percent increase over the May-June 2010 issue, but
slightly lower than the March issue as a result of a
subscriber renewal. The circulation goal for 2011 is 8000
subscribers by the end of the year.
May 21, 2011: United Christian Outreach Germany's
special fundraiser to provide $1000 as festival assistance for
Mnazakan Poghossjan to attend this year's Feast of Tabernacles
in Schluchsee, Germany has reached 50 percent of its goal.
May 30, 2011:
The Vereinte Kirche Gottes ["UCG-Germany"]
reprints the booklet "Die Bibel – Wahrheit oder
Legende" ["Is the Bible true?"] for the second time since
its original printing in 2000. This booklet is featured in
Google and Yahoo advertizing. Since 2001 the Vereinte
Kirche Gottes has spent $350,000 from its own funds on
printing costs to produce its literature.
June 5, 2011: The Vereinte Kirche Gottes
[UCG-Germany] announces that United Church of God president
Dennis Luker will be a guest speaker at this year's Feast of
Tabernacles in Schluchsee, Germany. Mr. Luker will give the
sermon on the Sabbath and also meet with the Vereinte Kirche
Gottes National Council during the feast.
June 13, 2011: Statistics for the Feast of Pentecost
have been finalized. 159 people met in five locations in the
German-language region: 63 people met in Arnheim (Netherlands)
for a combined service of the Dutch and Dormagen congregations.
The other locations were Hamburg (18), Munich (15), Schriesheim
(33) and Winterthur in Switzerland (30). The offering in the
German-language region was 8503 €, a 22 percent
decrease in comparison to last year's record offering. The
offering for the 3 spring Holy Days (Unleavened Bread,
Pentecost) was 0.6 percent more than last year.
June 21, 2011:
The Vereinte Kirche Gottes ["UCG-Germany"]
reprints lesson 4 of its 12 lesson Bible Study Course. The
first printing of lessons 1-4 is nearly exhausted. Lesson
4 is the first publication to be printed as a test of a
new printing company located near the Dutch-German border.
The UCG-Germany National Council determined that the print
quality of the lesson meets our standards.
June 29, 2011: United Christian Outreach Germany's
fundraiser to provide
$1000 for airfare and visa expenses for United Church of
God member Mnazakan Poghossjan to attend this year's Feast
of Tabernacles in Schluchsee, Germany is now fully funded.
Mr. Poghassjan speaks fluent German and is the only member
of the United Church of God in Armenia. He is currently
unemployed. Without additional financial assistance, he
would not be able to attend the Feast.
July 4, 2011: The Vereinte Kirche Gottes
["UCG-Germany"] reports that its regular income for the first
six months of the year was 4.3 percent higher than during the
same period last year. June was especially noteworthy with an
increase of 76.3 percent over June 2010, which was a weak month
for income. The offering for the 3 spring Holy Days (Unleavened
Bread, Pentecost) was 0.6 percent more than last year.
July 12, 2011:
The July-August issue of the "Gute
Nachrichten" magazine is mailed to 7227 readers in 17
European countries, a one percent increase over the
July-August 2010 issue. Subscription renewals conducted in
April and June resulted in a slight decrease in
circulation for the current issue. The circulation goal
for 2011 is 8000 subscribers by the end of the year.
July 20, 2011:
The Vereinte Kirche Gottes ["UCG-Germany"]
prints the booklet "Gibt es wirklich den Teufel?" ["Is
there really a devil?"]. UCOG contributed funds to
help pay the cost of printing the new booklet. The
Vereinte Kirche Gottes now has 23 booklets in print, as
well as the entire 12 lesson Bible Study Course. The
booklet was printed by a new printing company located near
the Dutch-German border.
July 27, 2011: The Vereinte Kirche Gottes
["UCG-Germany"] announces the dates for three "Kingdom of God"
seminars to be held in the fall: October 29 in Dormagen (near
Cologne), November 5 in Mörfelden-Walldorf (near
Frankfurt) and November 12 in Hamburg, Germany. The seminars
are part of the worldwide series being conducted
by the United Church of God. Additional seminars in
Munich and Winterthur (Switzerland) will be held at a later
date.
August 7, 2011: For the fourth consecutive year,
children from Germany and Switzerland traveled to the United
Kingdom to participate in the summer camp hosted near
Manchester by the United Church of God-British Isles. A better
flight schedule allowed the seven youth to arrive on July 29
and stay for the entire camp period.
August 15, 2011:
The Vereinte Kirche Gottes ["UCG-Germany"]
reprints lesson 2 of its 12 lesson Bible Study Course. The
lesson was updated with the new German spelling rules.
UCG-Germany has now printed four publications using a new
printing company located near the Dutch-German border. The
new printer offered a price reduction of approximately 20
percent compared to our previous printing expense.
August 22, 2011: The Vereinte Kirche Gottes
["UCG-Germany"] introduces an internet-based simultaneous
translation via Skype for visitors at church services who do
not speak German. Using multiple Skype accounts, the service
(in German) is relayed to an off-site translator who translates
simultaneously into English. The translation is relayed via
Skype back to the hall, and non-German speakers in attendance
at the service listen with headphones to the translation via an
internet connection.
August 29, 2011: The Vereinte Kirche Gottes
["UCG-Germany"] plans to reprint the article series
"Archaeology and the Bible" as an internet PDF publication. The
original series of articles was published in the "Gute
Nachrichten" magazine from 1998 to early 2005. The articles
will be typeset using reformed German spelling rules.
Publication is tentatively scheduled for December 2012.
September 6, 2011: The Vereinte Kirche Gottes
["UCG-Germany"] reports that its regular income for the first
eight months of the year was 6.3 percent higher than during the
same period last year.
September 12, 2011: The Vereinte Kirche Gottes
["UCG-Germany"] reprints the booklet "Lebendiger Glauben" ["You
Can Have Living Faith"], making it the 13th German-language
booklet to be reprinted since 1998.
September 19, 2011:
The September-October issue of the "Gute
Nachrichten" magazine is mailed to 7327 readers in 17
European countries, a 1.5 percent increase over the
September-October 2010 issue. The new issue has a full
page ad for the "Kingdom of God" seminars to be held at
the end of October and beginning of November in Dormagen,
Mörfelden and Hamburg.
September 29, 2011: 138 people met at five locations
in the German-language region for church services today on the
Feast of Trumpets. In Dormagen the attendance was 36 (this year
there was no combined service with UCG-Holland). 28 people met
in Schriesheim (near Heidelberg), and 40 were in attendance in
Winterthur, Switzerland. In Munich the attendance was 22. 12
people attended the afternoon service in Hamburg.
October 7, 2011: The Vereinte Kirche Gottes
["UCG-Germany"] announces a revised renewal system for "Gute
Nachrichten" subscribers. Renewal numbers will now be directly
tied to circulation goals instead of being determined without
considering circulation targets. The new policy takes effect
immediately.
October 20, 2011: 228 people from 11 countries meet
in Schluchsee in the southern Black Forest to observe the
biblical Feast of Tabernacles. Read more »
October 27, 2011: The offering statistics for the
Feast of Tabernacles and Last Great Day in the German-language
region have been finalized. The offering on the first day of
the Feast of Tabernacles was 11,269 €, 2.3 percent
more than last year. The offering (9854 €) on the
Last Great Day was 20 percent lower in comparison to 2010. The
total offering on the seven annual Holy Days in 2011 was 3.5
percent less than last year.
November 5, 2011:

November 17, 2011:
The November-December issue of the "Gute
Nachrichten" magazine is mailed to 7474 readers in 17
European countries, a 1 percent increase over the
November-December 2010 issue. The November-December issue
marks the completion of 15 years of publishing the "Gute
Nachrichten" magazine.
November 24, 2011: After several successful trial
printings, the Vereinte Kirche Gottes ["UCG-Germany"] announces
a change in its printing arrangements. As of January 1, 2012
the "Gute Nachrichten" magazine and all booklets will be
printed by D + L Printpartner GmbH in Bocholt,
Germany.
December 6, 2011: To test audio streaming software as
a possible replacement for using Skype, the Vereinte Kirche
Gottes ["UCG-Germany"] conducts it first Bible study via
internet streaming. 33 connections were registered during the
hour long test, and participants gave positive ratings for the
audio quality and stability of the transmission.
December 13, 2011:

["UCG-Germany"] offered 540 German subscribers of "Intern"
[German "United News"] a sermon CD. 43 readers ordered the CD,
an eight percent response.
December 31, 2011: The Vereinte Kirche Gottes
[UCG-Germany] spent $30,970 on printing costs for public
proclamation in 2011, bringing the total spent since 2000 to
$363,000. These printing costs were paid with local funds
without any subsidy for public proclamation from the United
Church of God in Cincinnati, Ohio.
